Find a Midwifery Practice in South Carolina

CNMs practice in more than 60 locations throughout SC. Midwives work in hospitals, physician practices, health clinics, university health services, and family planning clinics. Some midwives own and operate licensed birth centers. Nurse-Midwives attend births in hospitals, birth centers, and at home.

4Kira4Moms was founded with the mission to advocate for improved maternal health policies and regulations, to educate the public about the impact of maternal mortality in communities, provide peer support to the victim’s family, friends, and promote the idea that maternal mortality should be viewed, and discussed as a human rights issue.

Black Mamas Matter Alliance

Black Mamas Matter Alliance is a Black women-led cross-sectoral alliance. We center Black mamas to advocate, drive research, build power, and shift culture for Black maternal health, rights, and justice.

Coalition for Access to Health Care

CAHC is the umbrella organization for APRNs, including CNMs, that has been instrumental in securing changes in our nurse-practice act in 2018 resulting in increased prescribing authority for scheduled drugs and shift from ‘supervision’ to ‘collaboration’ in CNM scope of practice.

DONA International is the leader in evidence-based doula training, certification, and continuing education.

ICAN International Cesarean Awareness Network

The International Cesarean Awareness Network is a non-profit organization whose mission is to improve maternal-child health by reducing preventable cesareans through education, supporting cesarean recovery, and advocating for vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC).

Since our founding, March for Moms has been committed to lifting up the voices and concerns of Black women and families whose health care needs are often ignored by policymakers. Never has that mission been more important than at this moment, when Black people have been disproportionately harmed by COVID-19 and now are reeling from yet another round of racial violence.

Shades of Blue Project

The Shades of Blue Project is dedicated to breaking cultural barriers in maternal mental health by raising awareness and ensuring action is taken to break the stigma surrounding seeking treatment in the minority community when experiencing complications after childbirth. We do this by helping women before, during and after childbirth with maternal mental health advocacy, treatment and support. 

SisterSong

SisterSong is a Southern based, national membership organization; our purpose is to build an effective network of individuals and organizations to improve institutional policies and systems that impact the reproductive lives of marginalized communities.

SWITCH

Switch is a community of Christian believers who want to see an end to sex trafficking and sexual exploitation in our community.  We do not discriminate; we seek to serve the trafficked and exploited as well as the traffickers, exploiters, and buyers. SC based in upstate.
